How To Have Weekend Fun at Craft Fairs

Looking for a fun way to make extra money, meet lots of
interesting people, spend quality time with your family,
enjoy the great outdoors…and do it all without missing a
day of work. Why not participate in a craft fair? You can
find regularly scheduled craft fairs in cities and towns of
all sizes across the nation, each attracting many hundred,
even thousands of shoppers. They may be held at the
local drive-in theatre, in large parking lots, warehouses,
parks, community centers, county fair, local carnival,
fundraisers – just about anywhere there’s enough room
to put up some booths and bring in a crowd.

BEFORE the craft fair take a look around, observing what
the vendors are carrying. More importantly what aren’t
they carrying? This represents an opportunity for you to
bring something unique to the fair. What are they
charging? Decide on your “bottom line,” that is the
Lowest price you’ll accept for each item. Be willing to
give a little on the original asking price. That way your
customer feels good about the purchase, you still make
a nice profit and you both come out as winners.

DURING the craft fair put your happy face on, and get
ready for a great day. Do everything you can to
capture as much information about each customer as
possible, such as name, address and telephone number.
Try to get an email address if you have email capability.
This will help build your mailing list. Be sure to have
plenty of business cards on hand.

AFTER the craft fair add all the customer names you
collected to your customer mailing list. Over time,
these will be an important part of your follow-up
marketing efforts. Depending on the size of your list,
you’ll want to start sending your customers some
follow-up mailings.

Many people like to involve the family
(including the kids) and turn weekends into
quality time, with everyone working together
toward a common cause. The main thing is to
have a good time and HAVE FUN!
